About Us
The Story
The Diaper Library was founded by two sisters-in-heart, mothers, and best friends—Caitlyn Garf of Iowa and Amy Scott of Texas, who share a deep passion for caring for families and stewarding resources well. Between them, they are raising eight daughters, giving them a firsthand understanding of the cost, responsibility, and love that come with caring for little ones.
The idea for The Diaper Library was placed in Caitlyn’s heart in a dream. When she woke, one question stood out: Families can receive assistance for food, formula, and nutrition—but what about diapers? Diapers are essential, yet often overlooked, leaving many families forced to make impossible choices.
Knowing this gap needed to be filled, Caitlyn immediately called her sister-in-law—though “in-law” hardly fits when you’re also best friends—Amy Scott, a marketing professional and business owner, and asked a simple question:
“Do you know anything about starting a nonprofit?”
BOOM! And just like that, The Diaper Library was born.
More than a diaper distribution program, The Diaper Library is also deeply committed to education. We believe that knowledge empowers families. Along with providing high-quality cloth diapers, we equip parents with clear, step-by-step guidance on proper use, cleaning, and care—so cloth diapering feels approachable, sustainable, and successful.
Together, Caitlyn and Amy combined vision, faith, and practical action to create a program that serves families with dignity. Their mission is to reach as many families in need as possible—starting in the Des Moines area—by providing cloth diapers, education, and ongoing support so parents never have to choose between essentials.
At its core, The Diaper Library is about:
-
Covering little bums
-
Educating and empowering families
-
Supporting moms and caregivers
-
Protecting the planet
-
Removing financial barriers
-
Creating a cycle of shared blessing
By easing the burden of diaper costs and offering education alongside sustainable solutions, families are free to focus on what truly matters—loving and caring for their babies.
Small diapers. Big purpose.
The Mission
The Diaper Library is dedicated to supporting families in need with dignity, compassion, and practical care. Founded by mothers who understand the financial and emotional challenges of raising children, our mission is to ensure that no family is forced to choose between essential needs and clean, dependable diapers for their baby.
We equip families with high-quality cloth diapers and the education necessary to use and care for them with confidence. When a family outgrows their need, the diapers are returned and shared again—creating a sustainable cycle rooted in generosity and thoughtful stewardship.
By easing the cost of diapers—an expense that can exceed $100 each month—we help families find stability, strengthen their households, and focus on what matters most: loving and nurturing their children. At the same time, we honor our responsibility to care for creation by reducing landfill waste and promoting environmentally responsible solutions.
Guided by faith and motivated by love for our neighbors, The Diaper Library exists to meet real, tangible needs while offering hope, dignity, and community to families during some of life’s most vulnerable seasons.
